A. The 9120:2016 Online Update Component was released in January 2017, while the 9110:2016 is currently released in English, and is scheduled for release in other languages in March 2017.

Q. Can anyone purchase the Online Components?

A. No, this program is only available to auditors who successfully completed the AATT requirements for the applicable 9100/9110/9120 standard.

Q. If I am currently in the process of taking the AATT or completing AATT retakes, do I need to take the 2016 Online Update Components first?

A. No, you should complete the AATT and related retake process first, and then you can start the 2016 Online Update Components.

Q. Has the AATT been updated to reflect the 2016 standards?

A. At this time, the AATT program (for new AS&D auditors) is still based on the previous standards; upon completion, auditors should update to the 2016 standards via the 2016 Online Update Components. Additional information about updates to the AATT will be made available in the near future.

Q. Do I have to complete the entire training program on a single day, or can I split it between multiple days/weeks?

A. The training program is self-paced and you may split it over many days or weeks, as desired. However, the Assessments should be taken in a single sitting once started. (See the Timed Assessments section for more information.)

Q. Can I complete the training in any order/sequence?

A. No, the program is designed to be completed in a pre-arranged sequence. As you complete each requirement, you will open the next training or assessment module. However, you will be able to continue to access the training modules at any time for up to one year after you unlock them.

Q. Do I need to complete the 9100 program first before I can take the 9110 and 9120 programs?

A. You will need to pass the 9100 component before you can receive your 9110/9120 certificate. But you will be able to start 9110 and 9120 components even if you do not yet have the certificate for 9100.

Q. Do I need any other reference or guidance material to complete the program?

A. We highly recommend that you purchase a copy of the related standards before beginning the training course (ISO 9001:2015, 9100:2016, 9110:2016, 9120:2016, and 9101:2016), although relevant AS&D standards will also be visible online during the training. Other than this, the training does not require additional guidance material.

Q. How can I get a copy of the AS&D standards?
A. The AS&D standards are published in multiple languages by various national standards organizations worldwide. For more information about IAQG Published Standards, please visit this IAQG webpage: http://www.sae.org/iaqg/publications/standards.htm

Q. Can I download the Training Material to read/consult offline?

A. At this time, the training material is only accessible to be viewed/accessed through our online Training and Assessment Platform.

Q. Can I receive Continual Professional Development (CPD) hours for completing the Online Update Component?

A. Yes, upon successful completion of the 9100:2016 Online Update Component, your certificate will indicate that the program is recognized as 10 CPD hours. 9110:2016 and 9120:2016 will be recognized as 5 CPD hours each.

Timed Assessments

Q. If I run into a problem taking a timed assessment, what should I do?

A. If you are still in the assessment, please click the Menu button in the top-right corner and select the “Log Issue” option to send a report about the problem you are having. If the problem is preventing you from continuing the assessment, after sending the report, please completely close the browser window or tab and wait to be contacted before proceeding. If you have already exited the assessment, please contact IAQG AATT Technical Support. It is not possible to address most assessment concerns or issues after the fact.

Q. If I get disconnected or have Internet trouble during a timed assessment, what will happen?

A. Generally, you will be able to enter the assessment again and continue from where you left off, and this disconnection will not count against you. However, limitations are in place on the amount of times you may re-enter, so please try to verify your Internet connectivity is stable before beginning the assessment.

Q. If I’m on a slow Internet connection, will I be penalized during the timed assessments?

A. The system is designed to be fault-tolerant and to pause the timer while loading screens and related assessment material, so you should not be penalized for slower connections. However, if you get disconnected entirely and exit the browser, the system limits re-entry attempts. Therefore, we highly recommend using the best connection available to you, especially when taking timed assessments.

Q. Am I allowed to take a break during the assessments?

A. For the ISO 9001:2015 Pre-Assessment, the assessment is divided into Knowledge Questions and Application Questions, and you may take a break in between these two sections when prompted. However, entry to the Assessment module is still limited, so please be sure you are ready to proceed before entering the Assessment again.

The Forms and Audit Reporting Assessments are not divided into multiple sections and each of these assessments should be completed in a single sitting.

Q. In some material, the pass score for the 9100:2016 Forms and Audit Reporting Assessment was listed at 80% or 75%, but now it is listed at 73%. What is the pass score threshold?

A. The pass score threshold (pass line) for the Forms and Audit Reporting Assessments is 73%.  The threshold for the ISO 9001:2015 Pre-Assessment, however, is 80%.

Q. How much time do I have to complete the the assessments?

A. Effective 13 January 2017, the amount of time for each section is as follows:

  • ISO 9001:2015 Pre-Assessment Knowledge Section: 1 hour 30 minutes
  • ISO 9001:2015 Pre-Assessment Application Section: 45 minutes
  • 9100:2016 Forms and Audit Reporting Assessment: 2 hours 15 minutes
  • 9110:2016 and 9120:2016 Forms and Audit Reporting Assessments: 1 hour 15 minutes each
Each of these timed assessment sections is designed to be completed in a single sitting.

Q. I completed assessments on or before 13 January 2017. Do these changes impact me retroactively?

A. Please consult this post for more information about these adjustments.

Q. I am receiving an error stating I exceeded the maximum number of entry attempts for the assessment. How can I get access again?

A. Each timed section of the assessment modules is intended to be completed in a single sitting, and the assessment has entry limits. Please contact IAQG AATT Technical Support to request re-entry.

Q. I tried to re-access the assessment some time later while in the middle of a timed section and it told me the time limit expired and exited the assessment section. If I still had time left on the timer, how can I gain access again?

A. Each timed section of the assessment modules is intended to be completed in a single sitting, and the assessment has entry limits. Please contact IAQG AATT Technical Support to request re-entry.

Q. Can I take the timed assessments whenever I want?

A. Generally, yes. As the assessments are not taken in a proctored setting, you may take them on your own schedule. However, because computer or Internet-related problems could occur, we recommend that you allow yourself some flexibility. In the event of a technical problem that prevents you from continuing with the assessment, you may have to contact the IAQG AATT Technical Support Team and wait for resolution. Therefore, we suggest not forcing yourself to try to do the whole program in a single day, as technical problems could interfere with your schedule.

Q. If I fail an assessment, can I try again immediately after purchasing the retake?

A. No, you must wait a minimum of 24 hours after your initial attempt.

Q. If I fail an assessment, can I get information about areas where I need to improve to help with further study?

A. For the ISO 9001:2015 Pre-Assessment, you will receive a score broken down into Knowledge or Application. Further breakdown cannot be provided for the pre-assessment at this time. For the Forms and Audit Reporting Assessments, you will receive a score broken down into multiple categories and a list of top areas for improvement. More information about this scoring breakdown is provided as part of the Trial Assessment Scenario Review, included in the Update Component purchase.

Q. The assessments are not available in my native language. What can I do?

A. In certain cases, IAQG may offer limited time accommodations for those who cannot take the assessments in their native language, and where completing it in one of the available languages will cause significant inconvenience. Learn more about the application process.

Guidance and Recommendations for Assessments

Guidance and recommendations related to the ISO 9001:2015 Pre-Assessment:
  • Study the ISO 9001:2015 standard before taking the pre-assessment.
    • Be familiar with terminology changes to the standard, understand the new clause structure, and how to find information in the standard quickly.
  • This assessment consists of a knowledge and application section. Time management in this assessment is critical.
    • The timing for the knowledge section does not allow extensive time for researching the standard to find or verify answers.

Guidance and recommendations related to the 9100 Forms and Audit Reporting Assessment:
  • Spend ample time completing and reviewing the material included in the 9100:2016 Delta Training, 9101:2016 Delta Training, and 9100:2016 Forms and Audit Reporting Training.
  • Utilize the Trial Assessment Scenario and Trial Assessment Scenario Review to familiarize yourself with the materials and assessment methodology to better prepare you for the final assessment.
    • The Trial Assessment Scenario consists of a single 15-minute scenario that asks you to evaluate audit evidence and make decisions based on your understanding of 9100:2016 and your ability to use the 9101:2016 forms. Once you complete the scenario you will be taken to the Trial Assessment Scenario Review module, where the correct answers will be explained along with the rationale.
    • You are encouraged to take this opportunity to experience the assessment methodology and establish your approach to the pacing and time management for the actual assessment.
  • Time management in this assessment is critical.

Analysis reveals that common areas of weakness in auditor scoring include:
  • The difference between a statement of nonconformity and objective evidence (i.e. when asked to choose all correct and valid statements of nonconformities).
    • Ensure that you are able to tell the difference between a statement of nonconformity and objective evidence. Low performance related to not being able to properly identify or differentiate between statements of nonconformity and objective evidence.
  • Selecting the most appropriate clause on a nonconformity statement, and how an NCR can be invalid when it's written against an inappropriate clause.
  • The difference between process realization and process results.
  • Missed key details included in the scenario artifacts, in addition to the scenario description.
    • Ensure that you have read the scenario carefully and are identifying the key details included in the scenario artifacts, in addition to the scenario description.
  • Prioritization of key issues raised by the question, as it relates to the specific scenario or question cited.
    • Look particularly for major issues impacting process and company performance.

Guidance and recommendations related to the 9110 and 9120 Forms and Audit Reporting Assessments:
  • Spend ample time completing and reviewing the material included in the related Delta Training and Forms and Audit Reporting Training. Also, recommended that you refer back to the Trial Assessment Scenario and Trial Assessment Scenario Review. Although the scenario is related to application of the 9100 requirements, the intent is to familiarize (or refresh) you on the assessment methodology in preparation for the final assessment.
  • Time management is critical in these assessments.
  • As these assessments have half the amount of questions as the 9100 assessment, each question has a greater impact on your final result.  Be sure to review the scenarios and your answers carefully.

Analysis reveals that common areas of weakness in auditor scoring include:
  • Missing some unique differences in 9110/9120 and the associated business context when compared to 9100/manufacturing.
  • Selecting the most appropriate clause on a nonconformity statement, and how an NCR can be invalid when it's written against an inappropriate clause.
    • Ensure that the objective evidence is appropriately stated in alignment with the scenario.
    • Ensure that the selected clause and/or statement of nonconformity matches the objective evidence provided.
